Boston - Day 1

Jeff had a conference to attend in Danvers, Massachusetts.  We left the girls with their grandparents and Jeff, Packer, and I headed out a few days early to explore the New England area.

Packer's first time on an airplane
He was so good on the plane.  What a cute guy!
We took the subway to our apartment-like-hotel.  We got off at the wrong stop, which happened to be just outside the Boston Marathon Bombing Memorial.
After lugging our luggage several blocks back, we found our cute little apartment/hotel, quickly unpacked, and grabbed a snack.
Packer was just a joy on this trip!  His smiles are so contagious.  It was nice to take just him with us.

Here are some pictures of the apartment we rented in downtown Boston.

It was a nice place to stay, right off of Newbury Street - a famous shopping street that leads to the Boston Commons.
We still had the evening, so headed down Newbury Street to the Boston Commons - the oldest park in the U.S.

The Freedom Trail begins in this park.

Adjacent to the Commons is the State House (Boston's Capital Building)

As we began to walk the Freedom Trail, passing the State House, we first saw a cemetery where Paul Revere, John Hancock, and Samuel Adams are buried.

The Freedom Trail is marked by a red painted line or red bricks placed side by side.

This is the Old South Meeting House.  This is where the Sons of Liberty met just before the Boston Tea Party.
This Chipotle was once a gathering place for famous authors and philosophers like Ralph Waldo Emerson and Henry David Thoreau.  It is right along the freedom trail, across from the South Meeting House.
Nearby we ate dinner at a Cheesboy.  This franchise prepares gourmet cheese sandwiches.  It was tasty.

It was getting dark and we had only made it a little way along the Trail.  We headed back to our little apartment, ready for a good night's sleep :)
Aren't these guys so handsome?!!
